As some of you know, Adeline - our Commercial head - lives in Melbourne, the Australian city which has been named one of the world's most liveable cities numerous times and the only Australian city that has gone through five series of quite intense lockdowns since Rona happened.

Why these five ways to stay positive during lockdown are important

The combination of being away from family, navigating parenthood of a little toddler, and having to work remotely away from the much needed human interactions only brought her to a realisation that she needed a game plan to ensure a positive and healthy home for her family. So it is only fitting that after Delta-triggered VIC Lockdown 5.0, that we share her plan with you.

While this game plan is a good to have, it is not a substitute for professional advice. Always seek the guidance of your doctor or other qualified health professional if things are getting too difficult for you to go through in isolation.

What are the five ways to stay positive during lockdown and how you can disconnect to reconnect in your life

  • Be grateful for the small haves and wins; let it be fresh air through a window!

  • Get a little wiggle and keep the movement going!
  • Make sure you keep your social media usage in check
  • Lastly, stay in touch with your family and friends as much as you can.

Some may be more fortunate than others and are able to go outside for fresh air, but we know how limited the restrictions could be. Make the most of your limited situations.

→ Drink plenty of water.

It's so easy to get dehydrated when we're stuck doing nothing; so find ways to keep your water intake level in check, and make sure you keep your water bottle filled or set a regular reminder to have that glass of water.

Get a little wiggle and keep the movement going!

Sleeping in is good, but sleeping too much can undo all the goodness. Nobody will judge you if you squeeze a little dance on the way from the couch to the kitchen!

Make sure you keep your social media usage in check.

Social media is a major anxiety-inducer, especially because us human have a big tendency to compare our grass-es!

Lastly, stay in touch with your family and friends as much as you can.

FaceTime/Skype is always better than nothing. Especially in tough lockdown times when we don't get to spend time with other human beings in person, virtual catch-ups are our best bet!
