Showcasing a beautiful union between mother nature and its beings, DJARO is handmade completely by the ancient Kanekes tribe from peeled bark of Artocarpus Elasticus or more commonly known in Indonesian as Terap tree, Due to its robust characteristics and resistance to termites, the use of Terap bark as raw materials makes it strong, sturdy and versatile at the same time, shifting its shape accordingly and even better, completely biodegradable and compostable once it has exceeded its very long durability.
Handtwined and handknitted into shape after these thinly peeled bark are roasted and dried in the sun for several days, this bag has undergone a dyeing process using a dyebath derived from the same bark to enhance its robustness and longevity, resulting in an organic shade of cocoa brown.
Each carrier is thoughtfully processed at its own pace, creating an extraordinary piece that both preserves traditions and honours our surrounding environment
Dimension is circa 30cm x 40cm. Due to the nature of its craftmanships, each bag may vary in dimension from one another. Equipped with a fixed, handtwined shoulder strap, 5cm in width.
