Fit & Design Details

Designed with an intentionally oversized fit, our Batik Shirts offer a relaxed, easy drape. Size down if you prefer a more fitted look.

Materials & Craft

Our Batik collection is created in South Yogyakarta by Mas Ta, using batik tulis, the oldest and most intricate Indonesian wax-resist technique, where patterns are drawn entirely by hand with a canting and built through layered waxing and dyeing.

Every stroke, crackle and dye line is unique, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind garment with no carbon copy — a piece defined by craftsmanship, individuality and the depth of its handmade origins.

  • Crafted on 100% locally grown, lightweight organic cotton
  • This piece is naturally dyed using plant-based material derived from Indigofera Tinctoria leaves
  • Exceptionally soft, breathable fabric with a soft natural drape

COLOUR & NATURAL DYEING

  • This piece is naturally dyed using Indigofera Tinctoria
  • These plant-based dyes create soft, muted tones that reflect nature rather than uniform colour
  • Due to the hand-dyeing process and seasonal factors such as sun, rainfall, and water minerals, colour variation is expected and celebrated — each piece is one of a kind. Learn more about our natural dyes →

Styling Notes

Designed for versatility, Our Batik shirts can be worn relaxed or gently structured.

Style with natural fibers trousers or denim for everyday ease, or layer open over a tee for warmer days. The breathable cotton softens with wear, making these pieces ideal for repeat styling and lived-in comfort.

Great fit and quality as well as representing part of our heritage, the blue Aria batik is my favourite cool shirt. Whether I'm at a sunset beach in Bali, beachfront in Capetown, or just a mall in Singapore, I always get compliments from people whenever I'm wearing my blue RŪPAHAUS shirt. Knowing that the company also reinvest part of its earnings to support the artisans' community is definitely a plus and a story I can tell to my friends and family.

You guys were wonderful to work with when I wanted to return my shirt and swap it for a smaller size. No hassle at all and very friendly and quick service :)) I also want to say a special thanks to Stephanie who met me at the Melbourne markets so that I could swap my shirt over. She was wonderful and very helpful, so thank you!
