Materials & Craft

CRAFT & MAKING

Kanekes Weavers →

  • Woven entirely by hand on traditional backstrap looms by the Kanekes weavers in the forested hills of West Java using slow, ethical production methods
  • Each textile is produced in small batches, resulting in subtle variation that reflects the handcrafted nature of the fabric while maintaining consistent quality and durability

FABRIC & FIBRE

  • This piece is crafted from 100% organically cultivated, unbleached cotton grown locally in Indonesia. Learn more about our fibres →
  • Each piece is cut from a single 3-metre panel of handwoven cotton, resulting in subtle shifts in texture and tone that reflect the natural character of the fibre and the rhythm of the backstrap loom

COLOUR & NATURAL DYEING

  • This piece is naturally dyed using native Indigofera Tinctoria, Beleric fruit and mud
  • These plant-based dyes create soft, muted tones that reflect nature rather than uniform colour
  • Due to the hand-dyeing process and seasonal factors such as sun, rainfall, and water minerals, colour variation is expected and celebrated — each piece is one of a kind
  • Learn more about our natural dyes →

Care Instructions
  • Cold, hand wash using mild detergent e.g wool/baby detergent (avoid citrus-based products)
  • for convenience: gentle cold machine wash
  • Do not rub or wring. Air dry flat or hang in shade
  • Warm iron if desired
  • No dry cleaning is neccesary – harsh chemicals may damage natural fibers, dyes, and the environment

Our plant-based natural dyes are colorfast. However, no dyeing chemicals means small color runs / slight fading may appear where the natural mordant has not taken to the fabric. Refer to our care for more info.

Styling Notes

Wear the Alba Camp Shirt tucked into tailored trousers for a polished everyday look, or style it loose with relaxed bottoms for an effortless feel. Its clean shape and seasonal fabric make it an easy go-to you’ll reach for again and again.
