Materials & Craft

CRAFT & MAKING

Lorek Weavers →

  • Woven on traditional pedal looms by our Lorek Weavers in Indonesia using slow, ethical production methods
  • Each textile is produced in small batches, resulting in subtle variation that reflects the handcrafted nature of the fabric while maintaining consistent quality and durability

  • Crafted from 100% locally grown, unbleached organic cotton
  • The Pepper colourway marks our first re:RŪPA textile, crafted from upcycled post-production yarns collected across several collections to create its distinctive, multi-coloured droplet effect
  • The cotton yarns woven in this textile are naturally dyed using all kinds of organic materials derived from plants such as Mahogany bark, Indigogfera Tinctoria, Water Primrose leaves and Heartwood of Jackfruit to name a few

COLOUR & NATURAL DYEING

  • The reclaimed cotton yarns are naturally dyed using a range of plant-based materials, including Mahogany bark, Indigofera Tinctoria, Water Primrose leaves, and Jackfruit heartwood
  • As a result of both the reclaimed yarns and hand dyeing process, subtle variation in colour and tone is expected and reflects the handcrafted nature of the textile
  • Due to the hand-dyeing process and seasonal factors such as sun, rainfall, and water minerals, colour variation is expected and celebrated — each piece is one of a kind. Learn more about our natural dyes →

Care Instructions
  • Cold, hand wash using mild detergent e.g wool/baby detergent (avoid citrus-based products)
  • for convenience: gentle cold machine wash
  • Do not rub or wring. Air dry flat or hang in shade
  • Warm iron if desired
  • No dry cleaning is neccesary – harsh chemicals may damage natural fibers, dyes, and the environment

Our plant-based natural dyes are colorfast. However, no dyeing chemicals means small color runs / slight fading may appear where the natural mordant has not taken to the fabric. Refer to our care for more info.

Styling Notes

Layer under a tailored jacket like our Gali Jacket or loose shirt like our Abbe Shirts on cooler days. The tapered cuff and waist detail make it ideal for showcasing jewellery or belts.

Giving Back Program

I just wanted to say a very delayed thank you for my beautiful Noor jumpsuit! I received it probably almost two weeks ago now and it's just gorgeous. The fabric is so soft and the fit is perfect. Plus it's super comfy! Thank you for your continued help and assisting me with the exchange. I really appreciate it.

I purchased the Naapa Jumpsuit and the material is easy to wash (cold wash and gentle tumble) and easy to maintain (the creases add texture). I love RŪPAHAUS even more knowing that the items are made ethically and sustainably.
