Materials & Craft

Nestled among the Menoreh Hills and surrounding rice paddies, Klipoh Village has been home to pottery traditions since the 9th century. Artisans work with clay drawn from native soil believed to be the same material used in the construction of the Borobudur temple and regarded as sacred by the local community.

Led by father-daughter duo Pak Poyo and Arum, each piece is hand-thrown using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Subtle variations in form, glaze, and tone reflect the imagination of the maker and the wabi-sabi beauty of handcrafted clayware, making every piece one of a kind while remaining fully functional.

  • 100% natural clay
  • Hand-applied glaze in earthy, contrasting tones
